In the famous setting of the Channel 4 TV series, River Cottage, guests can enjoy a unique experience and seasonal feast. A traditional, 17th-century Devon farmhouse, the River Cottage Farmhouse (20 seated, 30 standing) dining room features an original flagstone floor, roaring fire, and cosy furnishings. This room overlooks the walled kitchen garden, which guests can explore before their meal.
The experience begins with a tractor journey to the venue itself. After a warm welcome from your host around the fire (or kitchen garden in nice weather) with a welcome drink and canapés, your personal chef will introduce the set menu, explaining the provenance of the ingredients and how each dish has been prepared. River Cottage serves only the very best local seasonal and organic produce: a set menu will be offered, though any dietary requirements can be catered for as long as prior notification is given. The feast ends on coffee with homemade petits fours, before the tractor arrives to take everyone back up the farm track.
River Cottage is a family friendly venue, and young kids will enjoy meeting the animals and wandering the 65 acres of organic farmland. This is a perfect setting for special occasions; anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, Christmas parties, client entertainment or just a get together with friends and family. Please note a minimum spend of £650 applies to this room.
Included for lunch: Welcome drink, canapés, 3-course meal, coffee & petits fours - £65 per guest
Included for dinner: Welcome drink, canapés, 4-course meal, coffee & petits fours - £95 per guest
The lovingly restored Threshing Barn (64 seated, 100 standing) features banquet tables and wooden furniture, restored to the highest standard using eco-friendly materials. Towering ceilings make for a bright, open setting, and large windows offer stunning views across the Axe Valley.
For those wanting to organise a large party, this unique venue can be booked for a private dining experience. The space also regularly hosts ticketed dinners at the weekend: ideal for couples and small groups.
The experience begins with a tractor journey down the farm track to the venue. After a seasonal welcome drink and canapés around the fire in the Mongolian yurt, take your seats at the banquet tables in the barn for your chef’s introduction to the menu. Your head chef will explain the provenance of the ingredients (many of which are picked straight from the farm on the same day), and how the dishes have been prepared.
River Cottage is happy to design a menu to suit your preferences (as long as it’s in line with the local and seasonal ethos!) and they can recommend some of the most talented bands from the south west if you want to get everyone on their feet at the end of the night.
